ARTIST STATEMENT
The disciplines I have been focusing on in recent years are photography and the use of mixed media techniques. These mediums allow me to question the poetic and narrative aspects of the image. I am developing a practice and reflection around the notions of wandering, individual identity, and the passage of time. Inhabited by poetry, my work also tends to express my perception of this world in a phantasmagorial way.
I work in series and though assemblage. Images, sometimes from different locations, are pieced together to create a new narrative or atmosphere. These are imaginary constructions inspired by reveries or reinterpretations of common tropes; my aim is to create a poetic ambiance in which reality merges with imagery, becoming surreal for a fleeting moment. It’s a way to denature the original cliché and steer it toward personal reflection. Once assembled, the origins are lost through this new perception.
